| Federal Way / West Campus |
This rapidly growing city is located in Southwest King County and is immediately north of Brown’s Point / Dash Point / Northshore. Federal Way was once considered a "bedroom" community of Seattle and a primary community for Boeing workers, but much of that has changed! Federal Way is now a city and employment center itself and has strong economic ties with Tacoma and the rapidly growing Port of Tacoma (see Brown’s Point / Dash Point on home page). Bordered by Puget Sound on the West, Federal Way has many natural desirable amenities. Scenic Dash Point State Park is on its Southwest border, and is a truly beautiful area of sandy beaches and campgrounds surrounded by trees. Many of its individual neighborhoods have splendid views of Puget Sound, sunsets and sailboats. Part of what makes Federal Way unique is that a major developer, the Quadrant Corporation, has vast holdings of land that have been carefully preserved for future development of both business and residential communities. Working carefully with the City of Federal Way, the developer's and City officials' goals are responsible expansion that avoids the problems other cities have encountered. West Campus is a large part of that area owned and developed by Quadrant Corporation. Visitors often comment "How green it is!" A large portion of this community is covered with towering trees. Other areas have carefully planned residential or business areas with their own "themes". There are all types of homes from "starter category" to large executive type estate, and everything in between. The net result of this large developing area is that there is a large inventory of "new" or "newer" homes from which to chose at reasonable prices. Federal Way is a city working with a responsible landowner to convert vacant land into a desirable city of the future. The results of this effort speak proudly for itself. |
